Selecting and Implementing HR/Payroll Software... Art or Science?

"Professional Development" Series
Selecting and Implementing HR/Payroll Software
Art or Science?
Speaker: Ian Turnbull, CHRP, Manager Partner of Laird & Greer Management Consultants
Toronto, Thursday, December 2nd, 2010
Selecting and implementing HR/Payroll software is more complex than it sounds.  And a HR/Payroll system is not just software.  It is a blend of manual and automated time capture and time management with human resource policies and procedures, and legislative and management reporting.  The strategic and tactical blend of these parts into a complete and streamlined whole human resource management structure is a challenge that peaks with the implementation of a “new system”.
This workshop will explore:
Ø The process, from start to implementation
Ø Defining the business need
Ø The dreaded business case
Ø Roles and responsibilities
Ø Consultants – good idea, or not?
Ø RFPs and alternatives and how to short-list vendors
Ø Demos – the right and wrong ways
Ø Outsourcing
Ø The web (and other technologies)
Ø A peek at implementation
Participants will learn how to avoid pitfalls and create a recipe for success, how to launch the process and get the buy-in, how to balance the pros and cons to make the best possible decision for their organization.
